REMOVE THE STIGMA

If you have a relationship with food that is more about self-soothing than you’d like to admit, you’re not alone. Many people struggle with emotional eating every day. If you remove the stigma around eating choices, it may lead you to freedom instead of feeling guilty.

This is where it's time to focus on clean foods that will help you strive to better health. However, if you find yourself reaching for sugary snacks – go for a walk instead. Be present by taking in the scenery around you and include all of your senses. This may help you move through food cravings.

SWEAT IT OUT

Another way to stop the comfort eating is to do an intense workout at the gym. Get the blood pumping. Alternatively use your normal daily activities to get the endorphins going like cleaning the house, washing the car, running after the kids or having an impromptu dance party in the middle of your living room.

DRINK FLUIDS

When you drink plenty of water or herbal teas, it will help supress food cravings, especially when you’re stressed. Try herbal tea flavours such as Rosehip, Ginger and Lemon, or even a sprig of fresh mint in hot water will do the trick.
