REDUCE STRESS WITH 3 HEALTHY SNACK OPTIONS

Are you short on time and sick of reaching for the vending machine? REDUCE STRESS WITH 3 HEALTHY SNACKS to get you through the day. Real Foods is your go-to resource for easy and healthy eating.

When work deadlines pile up the first thing most of us do is head straight to the vending machine. It’s tricky eating healthy when there’s no time in between a busy work schedule and a lively social calendar. If you want to combat stress, it’s far better to eat snacks that help to relieve tension and stress related illnesses.

Last month, we looked at 10 Brainfoods to Boost your Mood and how these sources can help stablise your blood sugar and emotional responses. Part of leveraging healthy eating habits is to eat nutrition packed snacks during busy periods.

To help alleviate stress and feel calm follow these 4 simple tips:

#1 Time Out

Take some time out. It’s great every hour to take a breather for a few minutes. During this time you can make yourself a healthy snack with CORN THINS™.

#2 Exercise Daily

If you have time during a break go for a walk for about 20 minutes. Getting out in the fresh air will help with your mood and may help you feel more relaxed.

#3 Take a deep breath

It’s during stressful times we often forget to breathe properly. Take three deep breaths in and out. Count to five each time you breathe in and five breathing out.

#4 Eat Healthy Snacks

It’s easy to make snacks that are filled with proteins and micronutrients that help keep your mood and skin glowing. Here are a few healthy snack ideas to help you get through the day, without too much fuss:

SNACKS

Avocado

Reach for slices of avocado and layer them on CORN THINS™ with a sprinkle of pepper during crunch time. This super fruit may help shut down stress-eating, and will make you feel more satisfied.

Green Leafy Spinach

A small bunch of green leafy baby spinach layered with slices of tomatoes and Boccioni on CORN THINS™ and a dash of olive oil and balsamic vinegar is a nutrient filled snack that will keep the stress at bay. Spinach contains folate which produces dopamine, a pleasure-inducing brain chemical that helps keep you calm.

Smoked Salmon

Layer CORN THINS™ with slices of avocado and smoked salmon topped with finely sliced radishes and chopped dill is a healthy and easy snack that helps alleviate stress. Scatter some cress with a dash of vinegar and a pinch of salt to add more flavour. The Omega-3 fatty acids in salmon have anti-inflammatory properties that help counteract the negative effects of stress hormones.

Each snack only takes a couple of minutes to prepare and helps keep the stress levels down.
